Why Raise Money for Comedy-O-Rama on Kickstarter?

Radio was once a happy playground for comedy, from Fibber McGee and Molly to Jack Benny.  The last true radio comedy show, The Stan Freeberg Show went off the air in 1957.  One of that shows co-stars and co-writer was Daws Butler, (voice of Yogi Bear, Huckleberry Hound, Capt. Crunch) Joe Bev’s mentor. Joe has been creating radio comedy now for 41 years, since he was 12.  During the 1980s and 90s Joe and others such as Bob & Ray kept comedy alive on public radio stations nationwide. More recently in 2005 NPR (National Public Radio) eliminated its Arts Department and today stations no longer are able or willing to pay for new radio comedy. In the past, stations have raised the money to produce shows themselves but those days are gone. Producers have to find the money themselves with no grants available for comedy.

Joe and his partner/wife Lorie Kellogg have been successfully selling there comedy directly to thier audience via the internet on iTune, Audible and Amazon. But radio comedy cost money to produce and Joe & Lorie create sound rich audio with live sound fx & music and they have a mortgage and bills to pay too. Too add to their expenses they have been booking famous guests and that also cost money to record.

We need your help here on Kickstarter to make these new shows for Cult Radio a Go-Go so we can also later sell them directly to the audience. We are beginning the program as a sustaining program for 13 weeks but in order to go beyond that (26 weeks) we need your help.

Help us bring back The COMEDY-O-RAMA RADIO HOUR!
