Weekly Radio Theater Revives The Art of Sound Effects

Comedy-O-Rama #42:

"Sgt. Lefty Model Trains Waterlogg"
part of The Joe Bev
3-Hour Block
starts at

2:30 pm ET /
11:30 am PT,
Saturday, Dec. 15 on CRAGG

Husband and wife duo Joe Bevilacqua and Lorie Kellogg make a new hour a radio theater every week. But this week's show, "Camp Waterlogg-A-Go-Go! In Training", presented a big challenge for the scene in which Sgt. Lefty builds miles of model train villages around Camp Waterlogg.

Bevilacqua reveals the secret to his train sounds: "My wife's stationary bike and a couple of toy whistles. Then, I mixed them in various stereo pans, crossing each other."

This Saturday, December 15, at 2:30 pm ET / 11:30 am PT, "The Joe Bev 3-Hour Block" will include radio comedy, classic jazz and radio drama, starting with The Comedy-O-Rama Hour, then The Jazz-O-Rama Hour and The Joe Bev Experience following. Listen online for free at http://www.cultradioagogo.com.

Bev not only produces and directs the lush radio theater hour, he is the voice of most of the characters on the show, including Sgt. Lefty, Ellis the Boatkeeper, Adam Maxwell, and Lil Orphan Andy. Kellogg voices include Olive Pitts, Elise, Mrs. Terwilliger, Lkie and others.

Together, Bev and Kellogg improvise all of the Camp Waterlogg character's dialogue. The hour also includes the stories "August Heat" and "The Match and the Toy Men" by Pedro Pablo Sacristan, voiced by Kellogg and Bev.

Comedy-O-Rama Hour
